MarinEyes’ practice history began more than 65 years ago

MarinEyes has provided a continuous Legacy of Care for Marin County for more than 65 years. Our founder, Ernest W. Denicke, M.D., was born in Ross, California in 1912. Dr. Denicke, completed his undergraduate degree at Stanford University and then graduated from the Stanford University School of Medicine in 1938.

The first ophthalmologist in Marin county, Dr. Denicke interrupted his practice in 1942, to serve in the Army Air Force Medical Corps in Europe during World War II. After the war, he returned in 1945 to open the practice in the Albert Building in San Rafael. Dedicated to the health of the community, he was the first eye surgeon to practice in Marin and was instrumental in the founding of Marin General Hospital.

All of our experienced physicians and optometrists carry on Dr. Denicke’s legacy of superior training and excellent patient care combined with the latest in eye care technology. MarinEyes doctors and their tenure at the practice are:
